During this session, the concept of middle leadership teams as a coaching model to facilitate teacher learning teams (TLT) within schools will be presented. TLT work collaboratively within a school to share and inspire innovative and interactive ways of enhancing teaching skills and the academic performance of students within a given school. This workshop will provide illustrative and practical strategies to apply TLTs in their schools as a sustainable means of ongoing teacher professional development. By the end of this session participants will be able to construct their own TLTs by acting out the essential elements of a TLT meeting and drafting action plans. Participants will get a feel for the reflective and self-directed nature of the TLT’s and will follow up with some activities designed to show how a coaching approach to leadership supports teachers’ professional development.
