غالبًا ما ينطلق المعلمون في محتوى اللغات من محاور تقسم تبعًا للمنهاج المعتمد في البلد ، وقد يضطر بعضهم إلى القفز من فكرة إلى أخرى أو من موضوع لآخر تماشيًا مع سير المادة الموضوعة بين دفتي كتاب. ومع مرور العام الدراسي، لا يستطيع الطلاب إيجاد الروابط بين الموضوعات التي درسوها بداية العام وتلك التي حصلوها في نهايته أو بين تلك التي درسوها في سنة سابقة؛ فتفقد المادة المدرسة جدواها ولا يعد لها أي مكان في الذاكرة البعيدة بل تصبح رهينة التفريغ الآني إما إبان التقييم أو إبان موقف عابر. في هذه الورشة سيتعرف المعلمون باللغتين العربية و الانجليزية على معنى التعليم من خلال سياق وعلى أثر ذلك على المادة المدرسة التي تصبح أكثر ارتباطًا بعضها ببعض، كما سيعاينون نماذج مختلفة مطبقة حول هذا النوع من المناهج.

This session aims at tackling the challenges posed by traditional models in Islamic education by re-examining the implementation of traditional teaching methods in contemporary schools and institutes. As such, amongst the goals of this session is to educate participants on the transition from a traditional approach to a student-led ‘Islamic theology’ class wherein active learning and pupil engagement is highly regarded.

By the end of the session, participants are expected to have the key tools to apply engaging methodologies to teaching Islamic theology. Furthermore, participants will also be enlightened on learning-through-discussion techniques and how it can be incorporated in an Islamic theology class.

In this session, participants will understand and reflect on the importance of building social capital to facilitate positive change and produce better outcomes for both teachers and students whilst considering the importance of the International Baccalaureate’s nature and philosophy as new and existing IB leaders. This workshop is suitable for teachers and educational leaders involved in IB schools in the Middle East.

تهدف هذه الورشة إلى تسليط الضوء على دور التعبير الشفويّ في تنمية شخصيات الطلبة، وتدريبهم على الوقوف أمام الجمهور، وعرض آرائهم وأفكارهم، وتشجيعهم على استخدام اللّغة الصحيحة في سبيل تطوير مهارات اللّغة المختلفة. وكذلك تبادل الخبرات حول أشكال التعبير الشفويّ التي يقوم بها الطلبة  في مدارسهم في سبيل تطويرها. مع عرض تجربة قسم اللّغة العربيّة في كينغز أكاديميّ في مجال التعبير الشفوي وأساليبه ومعايير تقييمه

Traditionally we have labelled great teaching in which charismatic teachers lecture and teach by telling, inspiring students through their passionate oration. What about the Harkness teaching method in which the teacher creates an environment in which the students democratically lead discussions? How does one create this environment? What are the advantages and disadvantages to the Harkness methodology? How does it differ from traditional Socratic discussions? In the end, perhaps your notion of what is good teaching may be transformed by the power of this pedagogical tool.

This session will discuss how community service and service-learning based programs operate in the Middle East broadly, and in Jordan specifically. Whether directly connected to course concepts and content or not, service learning provides students with experiences to develop skills identified in the IB Learner Profile, particularly being inquirers, thinkers, caring, and reflective (IBO). But what does this actually look like in Jordan? In this session we will discuss the framework of post-critical service learning (Bruce 2011), which focuses on relationships of power and privilege within service. We will offer a contextualized and culturally-relevant way to design community and service learning in the Middle East.

تشكّل مجتمعات التعلّم المهنية في المؤسسات التربوية إطارًا للعمل التشاركي الذي يسمح للمعلمين بتبادل خبراتهم ومعارفهم، وتأمل ممارساتهم التدريسية، وتقييمها بغية تحسين أدائهم من جهة، وزيادة فرص تعلم طلبتهم من جهة أخرى. في هذه الورشة سيتم تعريف المشاركين بدور مجتمعات التعلّم المهنية بوصفها فرقًا للبيانات تُعنى بدراسة البيانات المتعلقة بتحصيل الطلبة. كما سيقوم المشاركون بتنفيذ إحدى نماذج عمل فرق البيانات مستخدمين بيانات تحصيل حقيقية؛ بهدف رفع قدرتهم في إجراء تقييمات مستمرّة لتعلم الطلبة وتحليلها وتفسيرها للكشف عن المشكلات التعليمية، وعقد حوارات تأملية لتحديد جوانب التحسين واستراتيجيات تحقيقها ومؤشرات الأداء الدالة على تطورها
